You will pay: $35 annual special tag fee* + $20 annual registration fee + ad valorem tax.
* $22 from each $35 annual special tag fee will go to HPD's Georgia Heritage Grant Program, which provides funding for historic preservation projects around the state. As of late 2010, over 6,000 tags have been purchased.
As of Jan. 2015, more than 14,000 tags have been purchased or renewed.
Where will your money go?
The Stewart County Historical Commission received a $10,000 Georgia Heritage Grant in 2014 to stabilize and repair the historic Stewart County Jail.
Since 1994, HPD's Georgia Heritage Grant Program has granted almost $3.5 million in matching funds to 248 projects.
While the goal for the Georgia Heritage Grant Program is $5 million/year, funding peaked in SFY 2002 at $500,000.
License plate revenues have funded 10 projects totaling $126,865.
